When mounting, do the backplate screws holes go above or below the bar?

The backplate has to be mounted with the screws underneath the bar.

Does the mount work with boards that have more curvature?

Absolutely! Just position the bar closer to the bottom bushing of the trucks instead of the base of the trucks.

What is the rubber strip for?

The provided rubber strip is optional, but is used to prevent rubbing between the mount backplate and the board's grip tape.
